Here's the real situation: It turns out MTV's "Jersey Shore" isn't killing New Jersey's reputation after all. A new nationwide poll finds the reality show about a group of hard-drinking, foul-mouthed 20-somethings at a beach house in Seaside Heights may even be helping a bit by bringing attention to the real Jersey shore. The Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind poll, released today, found no statistical difference between those who have seen the show and those who haven't. It also found that the series is drawing attention to the state's 127 miles of beaches and generating positive buzz for the Garden State as a whole. "The show isn't hurting the nation's view of the state," said Peter Woolley, director of the poll. "In fact, it may be promoting one of the state's best features — not Snooki, but the shore itself. Well this was a shore thing. With the huge success of MTV’s Jersey Shore , it’s no surprise that fans would be clamoring for a little more quality GTL (Gym, Tanning, Laundry) time with the shows breakout stars. Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi , Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio and Jenni “JWoww” Farley are currently filming season 4 of Jersey Shore in Italy and are scheduled to return to Seaside Heights this summer to film a fifth season with their fellow Guidoes and Guidettes that could be their last. Snooki, JWoww and Pauly D have all inked deals with MTV to star in their own 12-episode spin-offs set to air sometime in 2012. “We’re excited to put the spotlight on their lives away from the shore as they pursue their individual passions, careers and relationships,” Chris Linn , MTV’s executive vice president of programming and head of production, said of the spin-offs. “Both series are fun, fresh ways for us to evolve what is an already successful brand for us.” The first spin-off will star ...

The "Jersey Shore" gang is now back right where many fans of the MTV hit think they belong — in Seaside Heights — taping their fifth season. But first comes Season Four, which begins Thursday and transports the motley crew across the Atlantic to Italy. These new episodes were shot over six weeks this spring in Florence, one of the most important architectural and art centers of the Renaissance. Given the splendor of that setting — and the reportedly strict ground rules to which the production had to adhere — could this season really be as raunchy as usual? MTV's preview clips certainly seem to suggest so. But the mayor of Florence reportedly tried to thwart the public rowdiness.
